About Us

On completion of his apprenticeship as a joiner in Dorset Jim moved to London to work at Pinewood film studios as a set joiner and was fortunate to have the opportunity to work on the bond film ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’.
After leaving pinewood studios Jim realised his boyhood ambition and joined the south Yorkshire police as a constable. At the time Jim was ambitious and was offered a job and salary which was too good to refuse working for a local aluminium window company. During his three years at the company he worked as fitter/installation supervisor and finally depot manager.

After the sale of the company Jim and a colleague set up welcome windows in Barnsley in 1984. Having been in manufacturing since 1984 Jim has worked in the ‘Pioneer Era’ of PVCu with some of the best recognised companies and directors such as Bob Cooper (Plastmo), Derek Bonnard (Promac) and Ray Gyde (Mila) all of whom are sadly no longer with us but all helped in those early days and are not forgotten.

In 1990 Jim established with a partner Calendar Home Improvements which specialised in the manufacture of windows for the new build sector. Trading successfully for many years they became a victim of the recession when one of their largest companies when into administration.

Having learnt from his previous company’s experience Jim set up JWC Windows Ltd providing quality PVC-u systems at competitive prices and attention to detail.

January 2010 saw JWC Windows move to their present factory which Jim and his wife managed to raise a mortgage to secure the future for the company. At 15,000 sq. ft. it has the capacity to produce the volume of windows and doors as before.

June 2013 Jim invested in new machinery to manufacture double glazed units. Using Planitherm total and soft coat glass with edgetech warm edge spacer bar we are now able to supply our customer’s frames and glass to comply with the latest CE regulations. All of our units are approved to BS EN 1279 part 2 and 3.

January 2016 Jim launched their specialist paint spray shop in response to growing demand for coloured profile. We have invested in our spray shop to supply out customers with an extensive range of RAL coloured windows and doors. We are also able to spray glass for commercial projects as well as kitchen splash backs etc. in an exciting range of sparkle paint for example.

To help promote our products we have decided to re-brand our company as JWC Group. A new website and stationary has been commissioned to launch our full range of products available from JWC.

Thank you for taking the time to read Jim’s story and we hope to speak to you soon
